Hollywood films usually get released on rent first instead of regular streaming. It holds true for big movies from Disney and Warner Bros.
Amazon Prime Video Store was launched last year and it gives the option to only rent to movies. While on BookMyShow Stream, you can actually purchase the film by paying a few 100 bucks extra.
But what is with the pricing? ‘Shazam! Fury Of The Gods’ and ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania’ started streaming on BookMyShow Stream today itself.
‘Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania’ is available to purchase at ₹850 if you want to enjoy it in HD. However in SD too, it is at ₹690.
‘Shazam! Fury Of The Gods’ on the other hand is available to purchase at ₹799 and rent at ₹499.
Now, does that even make any sense?
We realize that it is more of Disney or Warner Bros’ fault than that of BMS Stream. But this move can best be called stupid.
Even the theaters were more affordable than purchasing films on BMS Stream. Everyone knows that these films will anyway arrive on platforms such as Disney+Hotstar and Prime Video.
But the expectations to watch the film after paying such a hefty price is just too much to ask.
The companies must realize that India is a price aggressive market where cheaper price is appreciated. With insane pricing such as this, they are just promoting piracy.
