Highly Inflated Numbers To Justify Narappa Amazon Prime Video Release?

Amazon Prime Video announced the Premiere date of Victory Venkatesh‘s Narappa. The movie will be streaming on the platform starting July 20th. Meanwhile, it is rumored that Amazon Prime Video paid a whopping 40 Crore for the streaming rights. This comes as a piece of big news and has gone viral on social media. But OTT circles say this is a highly inflated number.

“40 Crore only for the streaming rights does not look authentic. It is a good number even with the satellite and other rights included. There has been a huge backlash against the decision to skip the theatrical release. So, this 40 Crore number is brought up to justify the OTT release to say that number is not possible if the movie releases in theaters in the present conditions,” observers say.

Venkatesh’s other film, Drushyam 2 is also sold for a Direct-to-OTT release. Disney + Hotstar bagged the streaming rights. There are rumors that the OTT platform has paid a whopping 36 Crores for all rights included. Even then, the number looks inflated because Drushyam 2 is made on a shoestring budget and has been shot in just one month or so.
