South Korean Drama ‘Broker’ is going to stream on OTT soon. ‘Broker’ is written and directed by Japanese filmmaker Hirokaju Kore-eda and stars well known Korean actor Song Kang-ho in the lead role. Additional cast includes actors like Gang Dong-won, Bae Doona, Lee Ji-eun and Lee Joo-young. The movie will be premiering on the 11th of August on SonyLIV.
The film was released in South Korea on 8th of June of 2022 and premiered in the Cannes Film Festival on May 26th. Filmmaker Hirokaju is well known for his film ‘Shoplifters’ that is pretty famous with Indians as well. He has made an enviable fan base in India and his ‘Broker’ got a theatrical release in India too. The movie is highly rated on platforms like IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes and is appreciated by critics and audiences.
‘Broker’ tells the story of Ha Sang-hyeon who owns a laundry and works as a volunteer in a local church. He has a friend who works in that church too and they have a very secret illegal business going on between them. They steal the babies that are left in front of the church door and sell them in the black adoption market, while Sang’s friend deletes the CCTV footage. But something different happens when a mother changes her mind and comes back to the church. She goes on a trip to see the potential parents of the baby and on the other hand two detectives are working on a case of stolen babies.
The beautiful cinematography is handled by Hong Kyung-pyo and the music composed by Jung Jae-il. Song Kang-ho won the best actor award for his role in Broker at the Cannes Film Festival. You can watch it on SonyLIV From 11th August onwards.
