Hijack Season 2 will have some new faces, including the veteran Toby Jones. Created by Jim Field Smith and George Kay, Hijack debuted on Apple TV+ in June last year, led by the scintillating Idris Elba. The English performer played Sam Nelson, a corporate business negotiator, in the debut season.
Apart from Toby Jones, Season 2 has Lisa Vicari (Netflix’s Dark) and Christiane Paul (Counterpart). These talented performers will be seen sharing the screen with Elba in the sophomore season. Elba also serves as one of the executive producers. Plot details about Season 2 are under wraps.
Season 1 of Hijack received a generally positive response from Apple TV+ subscribers. According to Nielsen, the first season generated over 357 million minutes of viewing time during the week its final episode premiered. Critics were also impressed, awarding the show an 86% “fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 57 reviews. However, the audience’s reception was more divided, reflected in a 50% audience score based on over 1,000 reviews on the same platform.
Toby Jones is also a part of Doug Liman’s upcoming heist thriller, The Instigators, starring alongside the likes of Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. On the other hand, Idris Elba will lend his voice to Knuckles again in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
