After its theatrical release last month, Adivi Sesh’s latest outing ‘HIT: The Second Case’ started streaming on the Amazon Prime Video store on a rental basis from yesterday. But, in an unusual and surprising move, the action thriller sequel has abruptly been removed from the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform. At the time of writing this article, ‘Hit 2’ was nowhere to be found on the streaming service.
When ‘HIT: The Second Case’ started streaming on rent on Amazon Prime Video yesterday, it was also mentioned that the film will be made available for regular non-rent streaming for all Prime users from coming Friday, that is, from 6th January onwards.
Amazon Prime Video has regularly been on the receiving end of their OTT subscribers because they are known to release certain movie titles on rental basis before making them available for non-rent streaming on the platform. Whether ‘HIT: The Second Case’ has been pulled off because of another impending backlash, we can’t say anything for sure regarding that.
It is likely that ‘Hit 2’ may directly be made available for non-rent streaming on Amazon Prime Video on the designated date – 6th January. Having said that, the duration between rental streaming and non-rent streaming in this case would have been just three days. So, the waiting period would be very less for Prime subscribers even if the film again appears in the rental streaming menu. However, that seems unlikely as of now.
‘HIT: The 2nd Case’ features Adivi Sesh in the lead role of a police officer named Krishna Dev ‘KD’. The basic storyline of the sequel revolves around a perplexing investigation of a gruesome murder of a woman by a serial killer. The cop’s desperate efforts to nab the culprit forms the film’s underlying plot. The movie also features Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead.
