The hitman and the bodyguard are back yet again. But now, with a new twist in the tale. Lionsgate movies just dropped the trailer of Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard and it is undoubtedly funny as well as dipped into adventure.
Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is bringing back the original cast with Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds reprising their original roles from the 2017 action comedy The Hitman’s Bodyguard with Salma Hayek, portraying the role of Hitman’s wife, Sonia Kincaid.
Those who are unfamiliar with the franchise, The Hitman’s Bodyguard was released on August 18, 2017 and grossed over $170 million worldwide and featured an ensemble cast that included Gary Oldman, Elodie Yung, Joaquim de Almeida, Kirsty Mitchell and Richard E. Grant alongside Reynolds, Jackson and Hayek.
The story of the new sequel, Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard however, revolves around Raynolds’ character Micheal Bryce, who continues his friendship with Jackson’s Darius Kincaid. The duo pulled into a new adventure to save Sonia, Darius’s wife, from new threats, when Bryce was essentially, on a sabbatical. This new film is set after four years of the events of the original film.
In addition to the return of Reynolds, Jackson, and Hayek as Jackson’s wife Sonia, the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard includes Frank Grillo, Antonio Banderas and Morgan Freeman. The trailer itself felt pretty groovy with Britney Spears’ ‘Baby One More Time’ running in the background.
This Patrick Hughes directorial was originally scheduled for release on August 28 of last year, but was delayed due to the COVID outbreak. But now, as confirmed by Lionsgate, Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 16, 2021. Now, as the fans are just loving this hilariously comical trailer with breathtaking action, we reckon this to be a blockbuster.
