The critically acclaimed Malayalam film ‘#Home’ turned out to be one of the best small films of the year 2021. The positive feedback for ‘#Home’ was so widespread that a Hindi language remake of the endearing relationship drama was also announced later.
In a delightful update for Hindi speaking movie buffs, the Hindi dubbed version of ‘#Home’ has started streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform. But there is a major and important difference between the original Malayalam version and the Hindi dubbed version of ‘#Home’ on Prime Video.
The difference is in relation to the runtimes of the Malayalam and Hindi versions of ‘#Home’. While the Malayalam version has a runtime of 2 hours & 41 minutes, on the other hand, the Hindi dubbed version has a runtime of 2 hours & 28 minutes on Prime Video. This means that ‘#Home’ Hindi dubbed version is 13 minutes shorter than the original Malayalam version.
The shorter runtime for the Hindi dubbed version of ‘#Home’ on Amazon Prime Video might have been done to alter the film as per the sensibilities of the Hindi speaking audiences. However, as of now, we don’t know exactly what parts from the original Malayalam version have been trimmed down in the Hindi dubbed version.
Directed by Rojin Thomas, ‘#Home’ is based on an uncomplicated yet relatable premise that revolves around a technologically challenged father Oliver Twist (played by Indrans), who yearns for his son’s attention in the alien world of smartphones, where everyone is immersed in social media platforms. The simple and effective storytelling is further accentuated by a heartfelt lead performance. In case you still haven’t seen ‘#Home’, you can stream the Hindi and Malayalam versions on Amazon Prime Video.
