Sohini Sarkar and Sourav Das will next be seen together in a thriller series named ‘Homestay Murders’. Homestay Murders will be premiering on the 12th of May on Hoichoi. It is directed by filmmaker Sayantan Ghoshal. This will be the second time Sayantan Ghoshal will be collaborating with Sohini. They first worked together in the series ‘Sampurna’ which was appreciated by audiences and critics as well.
The series will be telling the story of a group of strangers who after going on a vacation get trapped in a homestay and somehow cannot get out from it. One of the stranger is found dead and all of them start questioning the trustability of others and confront their secrets. One of them comes out as a police officer and soon one more traveller is killed. The police finds it difficult to enter the house and the mystery continues. It is a common trope with many content available of the same sort.
The cast includes other actors like Sobuj Bardhan, Debchandrima, Arjun Chakrabarty, Parno Mittra, Aparajita Ghosh Das, and Juddhajit. With powerful actors like Arjun, Sourav and Sohini, it is needless to say that Homestay Murders will have some of the best performances of the year. Sohini has already impressed the OTT audience with her acting prowess in ‘Mandaar’ by Anirban Bhattacharya.
The plot is somehow similar to Koushik Ganguly’s ‘Khaad’ and there are nowadays many murder mysteries in Bengali. With Arjun Chakroborty himself acting in ‘Murder In The Hills’ for Hoichoi and many more, the thriller market of the Bengali OTT industry is getting saturated day by day. It is evident from the views and reactions that the audience does not any more of these cliché thrillers. However, Homestay Murders looks pretty promising and hopefully it will not be just another petty wannabe thriller.
