“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha”: Netflix’s Next Big South Korean Catch Is Here!

Netflix is beaming and loaded with Korean content at the moment. The streaming platform in these past few years has been the go-to site for every Korean drama fan out there. Netflix has continuously added Korean dramas both old and new to their library and this is being loved by the fans. Given the world’s newfound interest in Korean content, Netflix has also upped their game with more investments into series and others. “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” is the next project coming to Netflix that might become the next Korean drama sensation as it releases.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” is the next series from South Korea that is set to woo fans of Netflix and also the K-drama fans. Starring Shin Min-a and Kim Seon-ho in the lead roles, along with Lee Sang-yi. “Hometown Cha Cha Cha” will be telling a unique love story that is filled more with fun and puns than romance. The series is directed by Yoo Je-won and directed by Shin Ha-eun. It is the series and modern remake of the 2004 Korean movie “Mr. Handy, Mr. Hong”. The series is set to release on the 28th of August and will stream on Saturdays and Sundays internationally on Netflix.

As for the story, it shows the lives of two individuals Yoon Hye-jin (Shin Min-a) and Hong Du-sik (Kim Seon-ho). Hye-jin is a successful dentist but for a change moves back to her seaside hometown, where she opens up her clinic. Returning from the big city to her small seaside town, she needs to get used to things once again. It is here that she comes across Mr. Hong, the village handyman who can and will do every single work that is offered to him. He is the go-to person for everyone in the town and people adore him. As Hye-jin and Mr. Hong come across each other, they have their fallouts, they aren’t exactly star-crossed lovers that we normally see in Korean dramas.

But, these fallouts between these two grown-ups are the main highlight of the story. While Mr. Hong is the man with all the answers in the town, despite a sheer dislike for Hye-jin has to keep him around and put up with all his puns and rules, while she settles down back in her town. But, what will happen to them after the fallouts resolve, is pretty much a known thing. The thing that will be most interesting will be how they resolve everything despite being at loggerheads all the time.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha marks the return of the beautiful actress Shin Min-a into the world of drama. Her last was a series back in 2019 and also released her last movie in 2020. Other than that, we have the rising star Kim Seon-ho who has been in the industry for quite some time, but Netflix’s Korean drama “Start-Up” last year, gave him the much-needed and deserved break of all time. Now he is someone who has all kinds of projects lined up for him. Going with the theme of romance and comedy, both these actors fit in perfectly, as this has been their forte for a long, long time now.

With that, it is good to see some unique Korean dramas making their way to the international audience. The world needs to see more Korean drama’s unique stories and Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is the next best thing.
