The Indian adaptation of the iconic comics ‘The Archies’, produced by Tiger Baby and Graphic India, has now begun filming. Helmed by Zoya Akhtar, ‘The Archies’ will be a live action musical set in 1960’s India.
Netflix and Archies comics have joined hands to bring ‘The Archies’, a coming-of-age story that will introduce the teenagers of Riverdale to a new generation in India. Archie Andrews and his friends will travel across continents to have a rebirth in India in this feature film adaptation of the comics.
Announcing the commencement of shoot for ‘The Archies’ Netflix India shared a picture of the clapboard of the film on social media and wrote,

‘The Archies’ is directed by Zoya Akhtar who is also producing it alongside Reema Kagti for Tiger Baby, Sharad Devarajan for Graphic India and Archies Comics.
Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s Tiger Baby is known for the impactful storytelling in acclaimed projects like ‘Gully Boy’, ‘Made in Heaven’, ‘Lust Stories’ and ‘Ghost Stories’.
Talking about this collaboration for ‘The Archies’ with Netflix and Graphic India, director Zoya Akhtar said, “I am super excited to have the chance to bring The Archies to life. It was a large part of my childhood and teenage years. The characters are iconic and globally loved, which is also why I am a little nervous. I have to make sure the film stokes the nostalgia of a generation that grew up on the comic and yet resonates with the young adults today.”
