Disney Plus Hotstar has just dropped the first full-fledged trailer for its upcoming series ‘Karmma Calling’. The Raveena Tandon-headlined series premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar on 26th January, 2024.
The Karmma Calling trailer gives us a good hint of the plot and cast of the series. Set in the uber-glamorous world of the rich and famous, Karmma Calling features Raveena Tandon as rich socialite Indrani Kothari, the reigning queen of Alibaug. Namrata Sheth plays Karma Talwar, a young, wealthy upstart, who takes on Indrani’s power and heft. Who is the enigmatic woman, and what agenda does she have against Indrani Kothari?
The new Hotstar series has been directed by Ruchi Narain, who’s earlier directed Guilty on Netflix, written and directed Hundred for Disney Plus Hotstar, and written the acclaimed film, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. ‘Karmma Calling’ comes from production house, R.A.T Films, led by Ruchi Narain, Ashutosh Shah and Taher Shabbir. ‘Karmma Calling’ will be Raveena Tandon’s second web series, first being Aranyak on Netflix.
‘Karmma Calling’ is the Indian adaptation of Disney-owned network ABC’s ‘Revenge.’ The original series had aired on ABC from 2011 – 2015, and had Madeleine Stowe as lead protagonist. The Indian adaptation is made on a lavish scale, with oodles of glitz, glamor, deceit, betrayal and vengeance adding to its allure for viewers. Interestingly, the original ‘Revenge’ was itself inspired from Alexander Dumas’ 1844 novel, The Count of Montecristo.
Besides Raveena Tandon and Namrata Sheth, Karmma Calling features an ensemble cast comprising Varun Sood, Gaurav Sharma, Waluscha D’souza, Amy Aela, Viraf Patel and Piyush Khati, among others.
