Sports streaming in India has been on a downward trend, plagued by low-quality streams and an overwhelming number of advertisements. However, Hotstar is one platform that rarely misses the mark. Although the streaming giant has faced backlash from fans in the past, they are currently one of the best platforms for streaming sports.
When the Premier League started last week, Hotstar provided fans with a smooth experience, delivering high streaming quality, though there was a notable absence of 4K.
Disney+ Hotstar is now set to change that. Fans can now stream the 2024/25 season of the EPL in 4K. For users who opt to stream on a Smart TV, this will provide an even better experience. Plus, with the addition of 4K, if the sound is enhanced accordingly, fans are in for an enjoyable time.
In terms of football streaming, Sony LIV is the other major platform, but the quality it provides is often laughable. The poor quality and excessive advertisements are major sources of frustration for fans, and Hotstar has provided a much-needed escape.
Though it’s unclear what will happen after the merger, right now, Hotstar is undoubtedly the most reliable platform for football streaming, especially as it streams the most popular domestic league. For now, the introduction of 4K streaming will leave a positive impression, but whether it will be short-lived remains to be seen.
