It seems like the recent decrease in the number of subscribers has not affected the global success of Bridgerton at all. This period drama giant, created by Chris Van Dusen, is shattering streaming records like a piece of cake. Season 2 has already become one of the most-watched shows within the first 28 days of its arrival. According to a recent report from Nielsen, the Shonda Rhimes series attracted the highest number of viewers from March 21-27.
The sophomore instalment of Bridgerton has generated more than 2.5 billion minutes of viewership within its first week. On the other hand, Ryan Reynolds’ The Adam Project stands with less than half of the above-mentioned viewership, 1.19 billion minutes. Additionally, the competition show, Is It Cake, falls just short of Shawn Levy’s directional project with 1.18 billion minutes of viewership in the first week.
This fantastic achievement is indeed a sigh of relief for Netflix, especially after losing more than 200,000 subscribers in the first three months of 2022. Plus, the world’s most prominent streaming platform endured the closing of more than two million accounts in these times.
So, the big question is this: How the hell does Bridgerton manage to lure such a large number of viewers towards itself? Let’s find out!
Yes, there are many reasons for Bridgerton’s immense prosperity. But the biggest one of them all is its flawless method of bestowing perfect escapism to the viewers from real life. The show’s lavishness, bright costumes, enticing romances, magnificent manors and palaces, and many more things are sure to impress the viewers. Besides, we have to give extra credits to the series’ characters for entertaining us with their idiosyncratic behaviours.
Secondly, Bridgerton is brimmed with many twists and turns. We just cannot figure out what is going to happen next in the show while watching it. The creative duo of Van Dusen and Rhimes has worked out pretty great for the series so far. And special thanks to Julia Quinn’s novel series for inspiring the show’s writers.
Another thing that stands out in Bridgerton is its colour-blind casting. Some call it historically erroneous, while the remaining ones hail it as a fool-proof technique of ignoring the evils of the racist past. Still, the show has done a terrific job at strengthening its cast with coloured performers. Furthermore, the extra spicy sex scenes work as a cherry on top here.
Bridgerton is currently streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates.
