Allu Arjun fans already enjoyed Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo in theatres in January 2020. Or at least his fanbase in southern regions of India did at that time. The Telugu action-drama ended up collecting nearly 262 crores globally against the 100-crore budget. It was declared superhit during its sensational theatrical run. This scenario lured Bhushan Kumar to buy the remake rights of the film. Now, the duo of T-Series’ owner and Allu Arjun’s father, Allu Aravind, is ready to dispatch the movie’s Bollywood remake under the title of Shehzada. And Kartik Aaryan is set to lead the upcoming Bollywood project.
Recently, the makers of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo have confirmed the release of the film’s Hindi dubbed version on January 26. Allu Arjun’s latest dispatch, Pushpa: The Rise, turned out to be an immense hit at the box office. Additionally, it performed outstandingly well in the northern regions of the country. It seems like the producers of Allu Arjun’s original entry want to take advantage of the South superstar’s current prominence in the northern states. But will this case affect Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada? Let’s find out!
Movie experts and theatre owners have displayed a mixed response towards this situation. One thing is for sure that Shehzada will face comparison from Allu Arjun’s original entry upon its release. And Bollywood has a shameful history of butchering authentic movie projects in the name of remakes. It will not be surprising if Kartik’s upcoming Telugu remake runs out of fuel during its theatrical or streaming run. Plus, the Bollywood actor needs some good movies to stabilise his filmography these days. Let’s hope he gets it with Rohit Dhawan’s directional.
There is one more thing that we have to consider here. There is a big gap between the release dates of both projects. Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada will see the day of light in November this year. But the chances of his escape from the viewers’ comparison with Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo are almost negligible.
