Chhava is a big-time blockbuster, and it will always be remembered for the rage it created both in and out of the theatres. It became a big political issue, and everything worked out for the film. It earned quite a lot of money given the situation of the box office, and end of the day, the makers must be happy creatures.
However, the situation with OTT is not the same. It did way below expectations, and there are good reasons behind it.
The first reason is, of course, the mammoth reception of the film on the big screens. Many people watched it. A lot of people went with their entire families and enjoyed the movie. So, naturally, they would not watch this movie.
A movie like Chhava would simply not be watched by a certain section because they think that it is a propaganda film. Naturally they are not going to turn in for the film.
But there was still a scope that Netflix India badly missed. They didn’t promote the film well. The movie landed on Netflix on April 11th, and the platform announced it just a day before without any promotion or marketing.
These reasons caused the film to tie with Court: A State vs Nobody, and the overall views came even less than TEST.
