A few days back we published an article where we talked about how the revenue of OTT became bigger than that of TV.
Well, it is a true fact and the revenue is indeed bigger. Well, we must clarify one thing that we are talking strictly about revenue and not the viewership.
The viewership on TV is still bigger than OTT by a big time margin.
But why?
Technology. AI.
Didn’t get it?
What happens on TV?
Everyone gets the same ads. If a chips ad is being broadcast then everyone sees it, including the health conscious uncle who has no interest in that. But what happens on OTT?
Personalized ads.
People see ads of only those products which they are most likely to buy. OTT platforms are projecting personalized ads through your personal data and that’s why companies are willing to spend a fortune to sell ads on OTT. Sadly, TV doesn’t have this luxury and that’s why the revenue of OTT is high. Interestingly, it will continue to go high up and TV won’t have a chance to come close to it.
Let’s see how the data moves ahead because as of now things look in favour of OTT.
