Earlier this year, directed by Arno Mukhopadhyay, “Athhoi” the adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Othello” was released, and Anirban Bhattacharya was on the site of the Creative director.
“Athhoi” was first a stage performance and after 7 years it came to life as a movie.
Now the upcoming HoiChoi “Universal Classic”, “Talmar Romeo Juliet”, directed by Arpan Garai and once again, Anirban Bhattacharya in the creative director’s chair.
What will make “Talmar Romeo Juliet” different from “Athhoi” ?
Now if we pay a keen eye then we’ll understand that the background of every Shakespeare play”s Bengali adaptation is always based on rural village setting.
If we see “Athhoi” it is also set in a rural village where he is a doctor, in “Mandaar” once again the story of a rural village, and similar thing is happening with “Talmar Romeo Juliet”.
For some reason the makers are choosing to keep the range under the rural backdrop.
Which is something people have been watching for a longer period of time, and to some extent there is a possibility that during “Talmar Romeo Juliet” audience’s may feel these selective approaches are two repaptaive.
If we compare “Athhoi” then we can clearly see that this was also the story of unrequited love , betrayal and trickery, and “Talmar Romeo Juliet” is also walking in the same way.
But with a change in the plotline which has to be done, being a new instalment.
But, “Athhoi” was critically appreciated and on IMDb it got 7. So, now it’s upcon “Talmar Romeo Juliet” whether it shines or dims.
