If there is something that has become clear in the recent times, especially with respect to the film and entertainment industry, it is that effective promotions and marketing are the way to go. Not only does this succeed in setting upcoming films and TV shows apart, but it also helps in reviving hype for titles that have already been released.
Take for example a tactic used often by Zee5, wherein they frequently (re)release trailers and posters of original titles that are already streaming on the platform, much like how the trailer for ‘Yaara’, a 2020 film was dropped yet again, recently.
While sure, on the one hand, this could prove to be successful in terms of garnering audiences for titles already available on the platform. However, on the other hand, is this form of marketing focused on a particular set of films that couldn’t quite perform well when they were released initially?
Which is to say, if that is the case, it is not really worth crowding their social media spaces by promoting films that have already failed to amass approval from audiences. Especially considering the amount of social media promotions happening around all the time, this could very well be classified as ‘spam / junk’.
