Everyone is highly anticipating one of Netflix’s most grandest projects to ever be created, which is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi. Boasting a star studded cast of Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal, this majestic series takes place in Heera Mandi in Lahore. Set against the backdrop of India’s Independence movement in the British Raj era, it depicts the life of tawaifs, or courtesans as you would call it and the intertwining of disloyalty, succession, politics and most of all, love.
With a trailer having already been released, one of the first songs in the series had been recently unveiled as well. Named “Sakal Ban”, the track was launched to viewers globally at the Miss World Finale, with the stellar cast of the series in tandem with all the finalists of the contest. It was nothing but pure elegance and magnificence exuding throughout.
The Miss World Organization and SonyLIV partnership led to the broadcasting of the global extravaganza on the said platform. Through the event, viewers were able to get a better glimpse of what is in store in Bhansali’s epic venture and are now eagerly tuning in for updates on its release on Netflix. This small, yet not so small and indirect collaboration will do wonders for Netflix’s viewership as Heeramandi is officially launched. For now, just like all of you, we are also waiting in awe to experience the brilliance that will unfold, and it is speculated to be releasing sometime in April.
