Global OTT Major, Netflix is trying to make inroads into the regional languages in India. The OTT platform has bagged the Streaming Rights of the Telugu film, Wild Dog and is likely to premiere the film in the last week of January. It may be presented to the audience as India’s Republic Day Special.
Netflix reportedly shelled out a whopping 23 Crore to bag the film rights. The presence of a cast like Dia Mirza, Saiyami Kher, and Atul Kulkarni which has pan-India appeal worked in favor of the film in getting a fancy price from Netflix. Nagarjuna is also a familiar face to the Bollywood audience and is making his Hindi comeback with Ranbir Kapoor’s next, Brahmastra.
There is no update yet if Netflix is going to dub the film into other languages to make use of the cast. The movie directed by a newcomer, Solomon will see Nagarjuna as an encounter specialist, ACP Vijay Varma in the film. The movie is based on some real-event and is about an encounter that happened on the outskirts of Hyderabad. For a major action sequence of the film, the team even shot at Rohtang Pass which is at 13,000 feet above sea level under sub-zero temperature.
