A couple of days back, several entertainment publications had reported that renowned British actor Hugh Grant was in talks to become the fourteenth actor to essay the titular role in BBC’s cult science fiction series ‘Doctor Who’. And the speculation was also reported by the eminent publication The Guardian to which Hugh Grant took to Twitter just a few hours back to clarify regarding the same.
Hugh Grant has confirmed that he is not in talks to play the next Doctor Who, a role that is presently being played by English actress Jodie Whittaker, the first female actor to take up the mantle from the year 2018. The actor has stated that “Nothing against Dr W but I’m not. No idea where the story came from.”

This clarification by Hugh Grant is bound to disappoint both the admirers of the actor and ‘Doctor Who’ franchise fans as the London-born actor had the potential of being a fascinating version of the time-traveling Time Lord. Or perhaps it was too good to be true casting in the first place. This also means the audiences will again have to play a waiting game for a new actor to be cast as a possible replacement for Jodie Whittaker.
‘Doctor Who’ is a long-standing show that first aired back in the year 1963. Its underlying premise revolves around an alien being in human form called The Doctor, who travels through space and time using a spaceship called TARDIS. New actors are periodically cast for the role because the character regenerates into a new form every now and then.
Although Hugh Grant has confirmed not being the next Doctor Who, there is still something for the fans to cheer up for. Because the charismatic ‘Notting Hill’ actor will next be seen in Guy Ritchie’s next action-comedy movie ‘Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and a fantasy adventure film titled ‘Dungeons and Dragons’.
