Ardent cinephiles might all be aware of the Anthony Hopkins starrer Oscar award-winning film ‘The Father’. The film had won the ‘Best Actor’ award for Anthony Hopkins and the ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’ award for Christopher Hampton and Florian Zeller, and the latter had also directed the film.
Diehard movie buffs might also know that Florian Zeller’s next directorial film is the follow-up to the aforementioned critics’ darling and his feature film directorial debut ‘The Father’. We are talking about Zeller’s film ‘The Son’ which stars Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern, and Vanessa Kirby in the lead roles. The movie is based on Florian Zeller’s much-admired stage play called Le Fils (2018).
Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman is well known for starring in some acclaimed films like ‘The Prestige’, ‘Australia’, ‘X-Men’ film series, ‘Reel Steel’, and ‘Prisoners’, to name a few. A few hours ago, the actor took to Twitter to announce that he had wrapped up filming for his portions for Florian Zeller’s ‘The Son’, along with their photograph.
‘The Son’ revolves around Peter (essayed by Hugh Jackman) whose busy life with his new partner Emma (played by Vanessa Kerby) takes an interesting turn when his former wife Kate (Laura Dern) enters his life with their teenage but troubled son Nicholas. How Peter comes to terms with the tricky situation and attempts to help his distant son by being a good father, forms the rest of the film’s plotline.
The film’s production commenced in the month of August this year and now that Hugh Jackman has already concluded his part, it’s only a matter of time before the entire film’s production is concluded. Like ‘The Father’, Florian Zeller’s ‘The Son’ too seems to be a story rich in emotional depth, supported by capable performers. Another Oscar contender in the making? That, only time will tell.
