The highly anticipated ‘How I Met Your Mother‘ spin-off series AKA ‘How I Met Your Father’ dropped on social media, a few hours ago. The promo video has also provided the release date for the Hulu series… and the show will drop next month (Jan 2022). The trailer shows some similarities between the original web series and the Hulu spin-off ones. In ‘How I Met Your Mother’, Bob Saget is the narrator, who is supposed to be the older version of Ted Moseby, the series protagonist. In the upcoming ‘How I Met Your Father’, Kim Catral will be playing the older version of the series lead character, Sophie. Another thing that is common between both shows is that both protagonists are a part of a friends circle with misfits. Also, Sophie, like Ted, is trying to find “the one” in the city of New York.
But even after all that, the show feels quite different from the get-go (probably the lack of laugh tracks). The trailer shows us Sophie’s gang, while also showing how she will meet a few of them. We also see Josh Peck’s (from ‘Drake & Josh’, ‘Red Dawn’, etc.) character go on a few dates with Sophie. So either Peck’s character is the father in the show (which could be a cool twist if done correctly), or he is probably just going to be ‘How I Met Your Father’s’ version of Aunt Robin. For now, we will have to wait for the series to drop.
‘How I Met Your Father‘ will premiere on Hulu on January 18th 2022. There is a good chance this show drops on Disney+ Hotstar in India, but no official confirmation has been provided yet.
