Hulu has been creating noteable original series like ‘Rami’ and ‘Devs’ which also talks about various prominent issues and subject matters that are rarely discussed in society. One bold series, ‘A Teacher’ follows a female teacher’s illicit sexual relationship with a male student that quickly turns into obsession. Hulu is planning on creating another series of a sensitive subject matter, based on a true story – the leaking of a sex tape. And the series will be based off the infamous leak of Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson’s honeymoon sex tape.
Lily James and Sebastian Stan have come aboard the project and they are set to portray a fictionalized version of the former ‘Baywatch star’ Pamela Anderson and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee respectively. The Hulu limited series doesn’t have a set title as of yet, but the current working title is ‘Pam & Tommy’. Seth Rogan is also set to star in the miniseries with a prominent role – he will play the man who stole the tape.
While the leak will be a major part of the series, the story will also focus on Anderson and Lee’s whirlwind romance – where they got married after 96 hours of knowing each other, back in 1995. The leaked VHS tape, back then became part of a legal dispute, with Anderson suing the video distribution company Internet Entertainment Group (IEG). After a settlement outside court with the Lees, IEG made the tape available to their subscribers.
‘I, Tonya’ director Craig Gillespie will be helming the series while Rob Seigel is set to write the limited series. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will be producing the series under their banner Point Gray along with Dylan Sellers under his official banner Limelight and Sue Naegle and Megan Ellison under the banner Annapurna.
