Are you ready to dance? Sony Pictures has dropped a brand new poster for its upcoming biographical musical drama, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. The upcoming project is based on the life of Whitney Houston and her musical voyage. The End of the F***ing World fame Naomi Ackie stands in the middle of the poster, donning the iconic late 80s look of Houston. Here is what we know about the I Wanna Dance movie!
In December 2020, Naomi Ackie was roped in by Sony to portray the iconic American artist, Whitney Houston, in the forthcoming Sony project. Also, Stella Meghie was chosen to helm this one that year. However, she got replaced by Kasi Lemmons in 2021. Furthermore, the screenwriting duties have been handed over to Anthony McCarten. He is well-known for his work in The Theory of Everything (2014), Darkest Hour (2017), Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), and many more.
Whitney “The Voice” Houston was nothing short of a sensation in the global music world during the 80-90s. Her first album remained at the number one position on Billboard for more than 14 weeks straight. Some of her globally prominent songs are “Saving All My Love For You”, “Where Do Broken Hearts Go”, “I’m Your Baby Tonight”, “I Will Always Love You”, and many more. Plus, she bagged six Grammys out of 25 nominations in her outstanding musical career.
Apart from Naomi Ackie, I Wanna Dance With Somebody stars Ashton Sanders, Stanley Tucci, Clarke Peters, Nafessa Williams, Tamara Tunie, and many more. It will hit the theatres on December 21st this year. Stay tuned for more updates.
