Films are more than just sharing thoughts and stories, it is also an exchange of culture. And so this year, IFFI Goa goes beyond celebrating cinema- it celebrates culture!
The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024 is set to launch a brand-new cultural showcase, IFFIESTA. This weeklong event, held from November 21 to 28 at the Kala Academy in Panaji, will celebrate the vibrant blend of food, art, culture, and cinema. Guests from across the country are invited to share their stories and connect with others, creating a unique platform for cultural exchange. Promising an engaging experience for all ages, IFFIESTA offers an exciting exploration of India’s rich heritage and contemporary entertainment.
Eleven traditional dance troupes from across the country and 15-20 top local and national restaurants will come together, each bringing a unique slice of their culture to share with everyone.
The National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFT) will organise a special fashion show inspired by six decades of Indian Cinema through stunning designs and iconic film looks. In addition, a 4,000-square-foot exhibition will offer an immersive journey through the evolution of Indian cinema, honouring the legacies of legendary figures such as Raj Kapoor, Mohammed Rafi, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and Tapan Sinha.
But there’s more! The National Film Archive of India will be hosting an exclusive installation that reveals the meticulous process of film restoration, featuring screenings of classic films projected on vintage equipment. Meanwhile, at the Prasar Bharati OTT booth, visitors can dive into the ever-growing world of OTT platforms and explore the latest digital films and TV shows.
As always, IFFI will feature an incredible lineup of film screenings showcasing outstanding work from directors across India and around the world. This year, the festival elevates the experience further by introducing a rich element of cultural exchange, adding a new dimension to the magic of cinema.
