Controversies and glamor are constant parts of the entertainment industry. Honestly, they are so integrated that they work almost as one entity. So what is the news now?
In a big music industry story, the legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja is upset because the popular production company, Sun Pictures, used his song without permission. The song, ‘Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa,’ is from a movie in 1983, and Sun Pictures put it in their new film starring Rajinikanth called Coolie.
Ilaiyaraaja’s team sent a letter to Sun Pictures saying they couldn’t use the song without asking first. Ethically they are absolutely correct. They explained that Ilaiyaraaja owns the song and didn’t give permission for it to be in Coolie. They want Sun Pictures to either ask properly or take the song out of the movie. If Sun Pictures doesn’t do this, Ilaiyaraaja might take legal action.
We are definitely waiting to see what Sun Pictures will say. Coolie is movie fans are excited about, obviously, it is a Rajinikanth film. It is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and music has been given by the current sensation Anirudh Ravichander. This is a big deal in the music world because it shows how important it is to respect artists’ work and get permission before using it. Hope production companies are more careful with their usage.
