IMDb Most Anticipated Indian Movie: RRR, KGF-2 or Laal Singh Chaddha?

Globally renowned entertainment content database portal IMDb has compiled a list of the consistently popular and the most anticipated Indian movies for the year 2022. Premium titles such as S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’, Aamir Khan’s Forrest Gump remake ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, ‘Radhe Shyam’ starrer Prabhas and Ranbir Kapoor’s superhero film ‘Brahmastra’, etc. are all competing for the coveted top spot.

Here is the full list of the most anticipated Indian movies for 2022 as per IMDb:

10. Adipurush (Expected release date: 11th August 2022)

Om Raut’s mythological movie ‘Adipurush’ is certainly amongst the most eagerly anticipated films to be announced in the recent past. The film is based on one of the two major Hindu epics Ramayana and stars Prabhas in the titular role of Adipurush (Lord Ram), Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Raavan), ‘Mimi’ actress Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Goddess Sita), and Sunny Singh as Lord Ram’s brother Lakshmana.

9. Heropanti 2 (Expected release date: 29th April 2022)

Helmed by choreographer turned director Ahmed Khan, the film revolves around a vigilante hero (Tiger Shroff) who helps fight crime during the night. How he saves himself from the situation ostensibly forms the rest of the film’s plot. The movie also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tara Sutaria in important roles.

8. Brahmastra (Expected release date: 9th September 2022)

Ayan Mukherjee’s big-ticket superhero venture ‘Brahmastra’ stars Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Alia Bhatt and it’s the first film of a planned ambitious trilogy. The film’s plotline apparently follows the protagonist named Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) who is blessed with incredible superpowers. He travels more than 3000 years into the past before the Mahabharata period to know about the titular weapon Bhramastra, in order to achieve his present mission.

7. Radhe Shyam (Expected release date: 14th January 2022)

Set in 1970s Europe, ‘Radhe Shyam’ is a period romance drama that features Prabhas and Pooja Hedge in the lead roles. Speculations aside, the precise plot details are being kept under the wraps. For a Pan-India appeal, the film was shot concurrently in Telugu and Hindi languages. Written and directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, the film is all geared up for a grand theatrical release on 14th January 2022.

6. Dhaakad (Expected release date: 8th April 2022)

It’s a spy action thriller that stars Kangana Ranaut as a highly-skilled, fearless, and fierce international spy named Agent Agni. This Razneesh Ghai’s feature film directorial debut also features Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta.

5. Beast (Expected release date: 2022)

This dark comedy action thriller is about how a man tries to save some people who are trapped and held hostage in a shopping mall captured by terrorists. The movie features Vijay ad Pooja Hedge in the lead roles.

4. Gangubai Kathiawadi (Expected release date: 18th February 2022)

Loosely based on S. Hussain Zaidi’s 2011 crime novel ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ follows the story of a woman named Ganga from Kathiawad and how she transforms into a formidable underworld power to reckon and becomes a madame in the red-light area in Kamathipura.

3. Laal Singh Chaddha (Expected release date: 14th April 2022)

It is a well-known fact that ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is an official remake of Robert Zemeckis’ Oscar Award-winning movie ‘Forrest Gump’ and that Aamir Khan is essaying the role which Tom Hanks did. The parent film narrated the story of a kind-hearted man with subpar IQ and how he inadvertently becomes a part of multiple historical events and how he progresses in life through a simple-minded and uncomplicated approach towards it.

2. RRR (Expected release date: 7th January 2022)

The second most anticipated Indian title for 2022 as per IMDb is S.S Rajamouli’s period actioner ‘RRR’ starring Ram Charan, Jr.NTR, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt. ‘RRR’ is a fictional tale set in the 1920s that revolves around two legendary Indian revolutionaries namely Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by Jr. NTR).
