Zee5 has dropped the trailer of its upcoming web series ‘India Lockdown’, taking the viewers through the horrors of the past once again. Helmed by national award winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, ‘India Lockdown’ will premiere only on Zee5 on 2nd December, 2022.
The trailer follows four individuals whose lives comes to a standstill when a 21 days nationwide lockdown is announced in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of them is a prostitute Mehrunnisa (Shweta Basu Prasad) whose brothel business finds new and unique ways to survive.
The second track is that of a senior citizen L Nageshwar Rao (Prakash Belawadi), living alone away from the family doing all the household chores himself. He is unable to go home due to the lockdown imposed travel restrictions. Then there’s pilot Moon Alves (Aahana Kumra) for whom its frustrating to sit at home but finds connection with a neighbor.
Its the worst for a poor immigrant family of four consisting of Madhav (Prateik Babbar), a daily wager, his wife Phoolmati (Sai Tamhankar), a maid and their two children. Having lost their jobs, they are suffering from various problems including hunger, homelessness and many more. How they travel thousands of kilometres on foot is a heartbreaking story in itself.
Things get even worse when the lockdown gets extended. ‘India Lockdown’ by Madhur Bhandarkar is the story of the survival and determination and stars Shweta Prasad Basu, Prakash Belawadi, Aahana Kumra, Prateik Babbar and Sai Tamhankar among others.
The only issue with ‘India Lockdown’ coming at a time when things are almost getting back to normal is why bring forth those horrible memories that people are trying to overcome and forget.
All episodes of ‘India Lockdown’ will premiere on Zee5 on 2nd December, 2022.
