Art is one of the few things that successfully traverses the physical boundaries of geography and topography. Which is to say, the film and entertainment industry is truly a melting pot, when it comes to cultures.
That being said, while Indian cinema is renowned globally, especially considering the commendable accolades that Indian titles have accumulated this year, is it all set to expand further. Emphasizing on the strong cultural ties between India and Russia, the latter country’s president, Vladimir Putin, expressed his desire to promote Indian cinema throughout Russia.
Not only are Indian titles already popular in the country, plans have already been set in motion quite preliminarily to officially distribute Indian cinema in Russia. This comes following the fact that there exists a specialized channel on National Russian Television that solely plays Indian films, all day round.
Not just this, Putin also mentioned that he is looking forward to, and is open to discussing this step of advancing cultural exchange with Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If this moves to fruition, not only will Indian cinema gain more popularity worldwide, it might just push filmmakers to come up with better content, and something that is more suitable for a wider, and even, international audience!
