Last week was marked with the arrival of some exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘Miss Perfect’, ‘Dawshom Awbotaar’, ‘Pindam’, and ‘Saindhav’, to name a few. Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT and theatrical titles coming up. For this article, we have compiled a list of the top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms and releasing in cinemas this week.
INDIAN OTT RELEASES
Aarya Season-3 Part-2 (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 9th February)
Based on the Dutch series ‘Penoza’, the show revolves around the titular protagonist (Sushmita Sen), and how she is forced to manage her husband’s illegal drug business after he is murdered by a mysterious killer. How the naïve housewife turns into a fierce ‘working woman’ to protect her family forms the rest of the show’s plot.
Ayalaan (Streaming on Sun NXT from 9th February)
The sci-fi movie follows the story of a well-intentioned man (Sivakarthikeyan), who teams up with his alien (voiced by Siddharth) friend to stop a ruthless scientist (Sharad Kelkar) from extracting a dangerous gas which could put the whole planet in danger.
Bhakshak (Streaming on Netflix from 9th February)
The film’s plot revolves around a courageous journalist Vaishali (Bhumi Pednekar), investigates a sensitive case of assault in a shelter for young girls. While trying to expose the wrongdoings in the shelter home, she must deal with some influential people who can go to any lengths to cover up the case.
Bubblegum (Streaming on Aha Video from 9th February)
The romantic action movie follows an aspiring DJ from a middle-class background, who falls in love with a girl from a wealthy family. But an unfortunate incident affects their relationship. Can they ever reconcile and overcome their socio-economic differences?
Captain Miller (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 9th February)
Set during the pre-independence period, the action-adventure movie features Dhanush in the titular role of an ex-soldier who takes up the mission to protect his village from the atrocities by the British Army.
Guntur Kaaram (Streaming on Netflix from 9th February)
The Telugu-language action flick features Mahesh Babu in the lead role of an abandoned son of an influential person. It also features Sree Leela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ramya Krishnan, and Prakash Raj in important roles.
Jai Mahendran (Streaming on SonyLIV from 9th February)
The Malayalam political drama series features Saiju Kurup in the role of a manipulative Deputy Tehsildar, who gets things done by using his power and influence. But what will he do when he becomes the victim of the same power play within the same system?
Kaatera (Streaming on Zee5 from 9th February)
Set amidst the rural backdrop of the 1970s period, the Kannada action-drama movie features Darshan in the titular role of Kaatera, who helps the villagers to get benefit of the Land Reforms Act. But it does not go down well with the landlords.
Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan (Streaming on Zee5 from 9th February)
The comedy movie revolves around how an intelligence services agent, who finds out that Praful (Rajeev Mehta) bears a striking resemblance to the king of Paanthukistan. They make a plan to place Praful in place of the king in order to save the people.
Lantrani (Streaming on Zee5 from 9th February)
The anthology film consists of three different stories set in a rural backdrop and features Jitendra Kumar, Johnny Lever, and Jishu Sengupta in the lead roles. The central theme is how various people take unbelievable steps to survive.
Palasher Biye (Streaming on Zee5 from 9th February)
The Bengali language movie is about a traditional Kolkata boy who falls in love with a girl with a different value system.
INDIAN THEATRICAL RELEASES
Yatra 2 (In theatres from 8th February)
Helmed by Mahi V Raghav, the film features Jiiva in the role of Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister Shri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. It also features veteran actor Mammootty.
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (In theatres from 9th February)
The romantic sci-fi movie features Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s and the premise is based on how a man falls in love with a woman but later comes to learn that she is a humanoid robot.
Lal Salaam (In theatres from 9th February)
Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the Tamil sports drama movie features Rajnikanth, Vishnu Vishal, and Vikranth in important roles.
Eagle (In theatres from 9th February)
Helmed by Karthik Gattamneni, the action thriller movie stars Ravi Teja in the role of a professional sniper and also features Anupama Parameswaran as the female lead.
