Animated movies have never just been ‘films for children’. They have always been experiences best enjoyed by kids and adults alike. One such experience was Disney / Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’, the Oscar-winning film that brought human emotions to life.
One of the highest-grossing animated movies of all time, ‘Inside Out’ revolved around eleven-year-old Riley and her five core emotions, Fear, Anger, Joy, Disgust and Sadness, as they struggled to cope with her new life after relocating from Minnesota to San Francisco.
Its highly anticipated sequel ‘Inside Out 2’, the feature debut directorial venture of Kelsey Mann, American film director and storyboard artist, is all set to hit theatres worldwide from June 14-16.
The sequel will follow the now-teenager Riley as she learns to grapple with the transition from childhood to puberty. The plot follows as she deals with two new troublemaking emotions: envy and anxiety. It is estimated to be the highest opener at the international box office of the year so far, even inching out the superhits Dune: Part Two and Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.
The film’s 35-minute debut at CinemaCon was received with great laughs and a plethora of positive reviews. Not only is it, therefore, looking to be Pixar’s highest opening weekend ever, it is also aiming to become 2024’s only $100 million opener so far.
