This morning there were reports that the makers of Tollywood Star Nani’s Tuck Jagadish were in talks with an OTT platform to skip for its theatrical release. Later, the makers refuted it saying their film is made for theatrical experience and they will wait for the theaters to open to release the film. But sources of Binged.com in the Tuck Jagadish unit reveal a completely different story.
“There were at least two serious approaches for Tuck Jagadish OTT rights. But the prices they quote were not too tempting for the makers to take a decision. Moreover, Nani is not keen on going for an OTT release. Nani’s V landed on Amazon Prime Video during the first wave. Later with the response movies got in theaters. He is disappointed about not holding the film back. He does not want it to happen for Tuck Jagadish,” the source said.
“Also, the team is confident about the film’s output. Director Shiva Nirvana previously delivered two super hits. They feel the family entertainer is best suited for theaters and the meager offers the OTT platforms are making do not excite them. So, the discussions are on hold for now,” the source added.
As of now, Telugu filmmakers are looking at July-end to August normalcy. But if that does not happen, things may turn in the favor of OTT later.
