“Insidious: The Red Door” is a 2023 horror film, marking the fifth instalment in the Insidious franchise and serving as a direct sequel to “Insidious: Chapter 2.” Directed by Patrick Wilson, who also stars as Josh Lambert, the movie features a cast including Ty Simpkins, Rose Byrne, Sinclair Daniel, and Hiam Abbass.
The film centres on the Lambert family as they confront their deepest fears within The Further, a sinister realm inhabited by tormented souls. Despite mixed critical reviews, Patrick Wilson’s direction and performance received praise, while the storyline and scares faced criticism.
Commercially, “Insidious: The Red Door” achieved success, grossing an impressive $188.5 million worldwide against a modest $16 million budget. The film’s conclusion unveils a surprising twist – Josh’s father, Ben Burton, was an astral projector who abandoned his family to escape The Further. He returns to aid Josh and Dalton in their battle against the menacing Lipstick Demon, the antagonist from the first film. Their mission is to seal the red door, the gateway to The Further, but Ben makes a sacrificial act to save his son and grandson. The film concludes with Josh and Dalton reuniting with Renai and Foster, under the watchful eye of Elise Rainier from the spirit world.
The movie will be available to stream on Netflix India from October 6.
