Earlier this week, Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan had officially announced his much-awaited film with one of India’s finest filmmakers Rajkumar Hirani. And all cinephiles must already know that the SRK-Hirani’s long-due collaboration is titled ‘Dunki’. The movie is slated to release in theatres on 22nd December 2023 and its filming is already underway.
You might also be aware of Dunki’s basic premise, which ostensibly revolves around a backdoor immigration route known as Donkey Fight, which is used by some people to settle in countries like Canada and the United States. Besides Shah Rukh Khan, the social comedy movie ‘Dunki’ will also feature Taapsee Pannu and Rajkumar Hirani’s longtime collaborator Boman Irani.
All the aforementioned info about ‘Dunki’, you already know by now. But there is one major thing, or rather difference, between Rajkumar Hirani’s latest directorial film ‘Dunki’ and all of the earlier movies which he has directed. You may have not noticed this fact earlier.
And the difference is that all of Rajkumar Hirani’s six directorial projects right from ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ followed by ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’, ‘3 Idiots’, ‘PK’, and ‘Sanju’ have been produced/co-produced by his longtime associate and eminent filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
On the other hand, ‘Dunki’ is being produced by Jio Studios, SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment, and Hirani’s own production banner Rajkumar Hirani Films. So, Vidhu Vinod Chopra or his production house Vinod Chopra Films’ name is conspicuous by its absence for the very first time in a Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial film.
Besides Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’, Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming acting projects include the yet-untitled SRK-Atlee film and Siddharth Anand’s espionage actioner ‘Pathaan’. The latter is scheduled to release on 25h January 2023. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’.
