Invincible Season 3’s finale is over, and the dust has settled. Boy, oh boy! There’s no denying that Episode 8 (written by Robert Kirkman and directed by Sol Choi), titled “I Thought You’d Never Shut Up”, is one of the greatest TV episodes of the past year—and also one of the bloodiest and most brutal episodes of all time.
First and foremost, it’s important to highlight Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s voice role as Conquest in the Invincible Season 3 finale. Morgan once again proves why he is one of the rare actors in Hollywood who naturally look and sound flawless as villains. His menacing and chilling portrayal of Conquest easily makes the character one of the best in the animated series, even if he has only appeared in a handful of episodes.
SPOILER ALERT!
As Cecil (Walton Goggins) decides to preserve Conquest’s remains to learn more about the Viltrumites, we know for sure that Conquest will return in Season 4—alongside Angstrom Levy (voiced by Sterling K. Brown). This will definitely piss off Mark (Steven Yeun), considering how close he came to death and how he was forced to unleash his meaner persona to defeat Conquest.
The best, most shocking, and (let’s be honest) most horrifying part of the Season 3 finale was its action sequences. They started off thrilling, but as the episode progressed, the action became more cruel, brutal, and bloody. The way Mark repeatedly bashes his own head against Conquest after breaking both his hands just to defeat him proves that Kirkman and his team are unafraid to showcase extreme violence and gore.
Episode 8 of Invincible Season 3 has definitely raised the stakes for Season 4, which will be packed with bloody, hard-hitting action sequences and high-stakes storylines—along with plenty of shocking twists.
Steven Yeun’s voice performance as Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, deserves all the praise it can get. He flawlessly captures the character’s vulnerability and descent into madness by the end of the Season 3 finale. Fans will surely see Mark in a different light after what he does to Conquest and how he vows to kill anyone who threatens his family again.
Gillian Jacobs also deserves a huge round of applause for her outstanding voice work as Samantha Eve Wilkins, aka Atom Eve. No one—and we mean no one—expected Atom Eve to steal the spotlight in the final moments of the third season. Kirkman finally does justice to Eve’s abilities.
Overall, the Invincible Season 3 finale is a must-watch. It raises the stakes for Mark, pushes the limits of animation, and showcases the raw violence of the Invincible universe. This intense action is interwoven with significant emotional moments, deepening the characters and their relationships. Stay tuned for more updates!
