Late Indian actor Irrfan Khan starred in a Swiss-French-Singaporean joint production titled ‘The Song of Scorpions’. The Rajasthani language movie was released in Indian theatres on 28th April earlier this year – around six years after its premiere at the 2017 edition of the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.
In a super exciting update for diehard Irrfan Khan fans (which includes everyone we suppose), ‘The Song of Scorpions’ has now started streaming on an Indian OTT platform. You can watch the film on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service in its original language with English subtitles.
‘The Song of Scorpions’ follows the story of an independent tribal woman named Nooran (played by Iranian-French actress Golshifteh Farahani), who is being trained by her grandmother (Waheeda Rahman) to become a scorpion singer (an antidote to a fatal scorpion bite). Nooran’s life takes a drastic turn after an unfortunate incident and that’s when her longtime admirer Aadam (a camel trader played by Irrfan Khan) proposes to her to marry him. But after she gets married, she faces another problem after which she decides to avenge a ruthless betrayal and to find her song.
‘The Song of Scorpions’ was helmed by Swiss filmmaker of Indian origin Anup Singh, who had previously directed the terrific Irrfan Khan in the critically acclaimed and hard-hitting Indo-German film ‘Qissa’, which was set in the year 1947 against the backdrop of the Partition of India.
Coming back to ‘The Song of Scorpions’, the film was praised by several critics for its direction, performances, and its cinematography, etc. So, it’s a good opportunity for Irrfan Khan fans and cinephiles in general to catch the film on Amazon Prime Video.
