A few films/series age fine like wine. Initially, the audience disregards them only to appreciate them in the upcoming days. Anek starring Ayushmann Khurrana appears to belong to that category.
Needless to say, Anek was simply incapable of drawing mass to the big screens. After the pandemic, the theatrical business worked in a way that no film which can be equally good at OTT has worked in the theatres.
We all know that Anek was a fiasco at the box office with poor ticket sales and cold reviews. But it was a great attempt nonetheless. The questions that the film raised needed to be addressed. Although the screenplay had flaws, the performance by Ayushmann Khurrana and the overall setting of the film was good enough to be acknowledged.
Thankfully, Netflix is giving that chance to the film. On OTT, Anek is picking up pace and raising conversation which should have been raised long ago during the theatrical release of the film.
As you can see, Anek is trending in the number one position by replacing Bhool Bhulaiya 2.
Also, on social media, people are talking about the concept and questions that the film revolved around. It is a fact that OTT platforms are killing the theatrical business of many films which could have been successful but this is the new world.

#Anek is a good movie, not the best of @anubhavsinha but definitely good enough to watch it atleast once.
