The much anticipated first single from Thalapathy Vijay‘s Beast – Arabic Kuthu was unveiled, marking the occasion of Valentine’s Day. As expected, the song is setting new records in terms of views and likes on YouTube. The song had clocked over 10 real-time views in just 5 hours and that is a new record. It is safe to say that Arabic Kuthu is evoking interest from social media users. But the big question is – Is Arabic Kuthu really worth all the hype that it is getting on social media.
Firstly, Arabic Kuthu had built up exceedingly high hype prior to release. The blockbuster combination of Vijay – Anirudh Nelson attributed to great hype. So, meeting such sky-high expectations is naturally tough. A section of the listeners took to social media to say that they did not like Arabic Kuthi in the first listening. This might be a result of all the hype and anticipation that kept building around the song.
Moreover, the song is a fusion of Arabic theme and Tamil Kuthu tune. It is fair to say that not everyone will be a fan of such a peculiar blend. One of the factors that helped the first outing from Master audio album – Lutty Story is the relatability factor. The tune, the lyricss, and Vijay’s vocals gelled well together, making the song an instant chartbuster. But in the case of Arabic Kuthu, the theme and the vibe of the song are alienated. so it is doesn’t necessarily cater to everyone.
While Arabic Kuthu might have struck a chord with a large section of the listeners, it certainly doesn’t cater to all sections. There is no belittling Anirudh’s work but that is how it is sometimes.
As for Beast, it marks the collaboration of Vijay, Pooja Hegde, the director Nelson Dilipkumar, and Sun Pictures. The film is up for theatrical reelase this April.
