Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK aka Raj & DK have created a niche of their own in the entertainment industry in recent years with their incredible works specifically long format series.
Whether it’s their first show ‘The Family Man’ or ‘Farzi’ or ‘Guns & Gulaabs’, all have received great critical and public acclaim. These shows have the signature Raj & DK style written all over them and the audience simply loves all of it.
But can the same be said for their latest venture ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ that premiered on Prime Video a couple of days ago? Probably not, specially of you are going in with high expectations. The story is pretty weak; the performances are not very great and there’s almost no emotional impact.
Moreover, if you think the music in the show will be as good as it was in the trailer then you will be utterly disappointed. The only god things about the show are the glamorous action sequences, the absolutely amazing editing and the cliffhangers.
So who is to blame for it all? Agreed that Raj & DK would not have had too much liberty to explore as the show is part of Russo Brother’s global franchise, still they cannot be absolved from the blame altogether. They made the show and will have to accept both the good and the bad that comes with it.
On the other hand, we can all agree that the duo didn’t do that bad a job either if one goes by the previous instalments of ‘Citadel’. The American version starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden was an absolute disaster and the Italian version too was just passable.
In respect to that, ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ is much better and our disappointment maybe the result of our high expectations of Raj & DK who have delivered some very phenomenal works up until now. Hopefully they will create magic once again, some other place, some other time.
