Is Dragging Kareena Kapoor On The Basis Of Religion Valid?

Is Dragging Kareena Kapoor On The Basis Of Religion Valid?

Something or the other is always up in Bollywood. While some time ago it was Samnatha Akkineni being blamed for playing a certain role, now it seems like social media’s new target is none other than Kareena Kapoor. Kareena Kapoor recently has been in the limelight for her upcoming movies and fans are super excited for her. But, now the scene seems to be completely different as people are continuously coming up with hatred towards Kareena Kapoor. This new found hatred has come up as a result of her upcoming role of Sita.

Recently, some news made headlines that Kareena Kapoor Khan, who has been approached to play the role of Sita in upcoming mythological film Sita: The Incarnation, has demanded a hefty sum of Rs 12 crores for the role. It is a known fact that, normally Kareena Kapoor always keeps her range between Rs. 6-8 crores, which is a standard procedure for actors to have. But, depending on certain movies and scripts, sometimes actors do increase their range and it is not a new thing in any film industry.

But, now this certain thing might have triggered a lot of people on the internet. So much so that, #BoycottKareenaKhan has been trending No.1 at the moment. This purely comes from the fact certain religious sentiments are hurt. Many have gone on to say that how could someone ask for such a huge amount, when they are given the role of Goddess Sita.

While this is common point of trending hashtag, many have shown their anger on Kareena Kapoor being the choice, and calling her undeserving as she is someone who has married Muslim man. People have dragged Saif Ali Khan, saying he too hurt the sentiments of people earlier this year with his web-series “Tandav” and also with his upcoming role of “Lankesh” in yet another Ramayana inspired mythological film.

While, it is being said that the creators at the moment are reconsidering things, after the hefty demand from Kapoor, it is also being mentioned that they are looking for someone else who could work in their given budget. But nothing as of now has been confirmed and this might be another set of rumors as the creators’ first choice was and still is Kareena Kapoor, right from the inception of the film.

While those things are getting settled, the hatred for her is totally uncalled for. Asking for a certain amount of money is something, which is totally the actor’s call and everyone in the industry is very much aware of that. Using that and dragging religion into the situation is totally meaningless. Just because someone is essaying the role of a said mythological character, people can’t expect them to do it for free. Dragging someone’s religion too is another example of going extremely low. In a country like India, when there are so many religions practiced, one cannot at all say that their religion is superior to the other one. Not only India, this should be the case for the entire world.

Religion based hatred is the last thing one can do in times like this, when everywhere there are struggles to keep their identity intact. Also, coming to Kareena Kapoor and the role of Sita, let this be something that makers and the actors discuss and not become something for “religious” people to spew hate on.
