The much-awaited Deepika Padukone starrer Gehraiyaan is now available to stream on Prime Video. Just like every big title on the platform, Gehraiyaan also dropped 2 hours before the release time i.e. 10 PM on Thursday.
With a runtime of 2 Hours 28 Minutes, a lot of people finished the movie even before waiting for dawn. Initial reactions on Twitter are giving a great response to the film.
Everybody is praising the complexity of the movie and the way actors portrayed those characters almost effortlessly.
But there is a slight complaint about the screen space of Ananya Pandey and Dhairya Karwa. Most conversations are centred only around Deepika Padukone and her brilliant portrayal.
Needless to say, she is one of the most bankable stars in Bollywood and an amazing actor as well.
But, is it true that the screenplay of Gehraiyaan was written just to serve the status of Padukone?
The answer to this question is not absolute. It is true that Deepika enjoys most of the screen space that could be minimized for the other actors to shine.
But, Gehraiyaan is all about complexities in human character and Padukone’s real-life experience with anxiety and depression is definitely reflected in her performance.
So yes the movie does revolve around Deepika Padukone but there is more to it. The film will require patience to fully grasp the vision Shakun Batra had for the film.
