For a long time, Indian OTT was waiting for a brand new series that was new, innovative and original. It seems like our wait ends with the new Hotstar series “Human“. Although in December itself Hotstar’s Aarya 2 came out to be exceptionally great, it was the second season of an already established series.
Shefali Shah plays the character of a psychotic doctor Gauri Nath who is inhumane and sick. It not only exposes the dark side of medical science but also shows us an extremely classy and terrifying performance by Shefali Shah.
If you remember Hans Landa from Inglourious Basterds or Bob Biswas from Kahaani then you would find one common thing. They were evil characters but filled with manners and grace.
Their etiquettes seemed terrifying and so was their conversation. Shefali Shah has given a similar level performance that would be remembered for a long.
We as an audience were sick of shows that had nothing to offer but violence and abusive language. Hotstar came to the rescue and the obvious results are clearly visible.
With an IMDb rating of 8.7, the show is becoming increasingly popular among the masses.
This is high time that other platforms should take inspiration from Hotstar. Although gems like The Family man do arrive a few times, the potential of the Hindi series is hardly getting utilized.
This is probably the biggest reason the Indian audience even considers watching a foreign show.
Long story short, Human is perhaps the show Indian audience was waiting for a long time.
