Jis Joy directorial ‘Innale Vare‘ starring Asif Ali, Nimisha Sajayan and Antony Varghese in key roles premiered on SonyLiv recently. Expectations were running quite high for this Asif Ali starrer given it was Jis Joy’s first thriller feature film and collaboration with hit screen-writer duo Bobby-Sanjay. This was quite a recipe for a blockbuster. But it seems like Sony Liv laid its hands on its first malayalam mis-fire.
It’s a well known fact that SonyLiv has been acquiring some real good regional movies in the last two years. Particularly their malayalam titles deserve all the praise, considering the fact that each title is unique on its own and also well received by the audience. SonyLiv has been having a good run with its malayalam originals that included much appreciated malayalam titles like Kaanekkane, Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam, Churuli, Freedom Fight, Ajagajantharam, Madhuram, Salute, Puzhu etc.
Quite expectedly this reputation of SonyLiv carried on to the Jis Joy directorial as well. Add to the matrix popular screenwriter duo Bobby-Sanjay’s magic in writing thrillers that deserves no special mention. There was also a stacked star-cast including Asif Ali, Nimisha Sajayan and Antony Varghese. But everything fell short. Not only did the film fall flat on its narrative front, the star-cast also seemed so out-zoned. Neither is the film critically well recieved, nor is appreciated by the target audience. There is no doubt that ‘ Innale Vare ‘ is a mis-fire for SonyLiv.
