Recently after a month of truffle with the CBFC, the trailer of Vedaa was launched. The movie stars John Abraham and Abhishek Banerjee in the pivotal roles. Though the movie covers some important topics of caste discrimination and women empowerment, that can grab a good number of audiences, still there is a doubt whether or not it is a wise idea to release the movie on August 15th.
Vedaa’s trailer was released on Friday, 2nd of August due to several issues pointed out by the censor board. The trailer was released but with certain edits. The film finally got its U/A certification on 6th August after deletion of 9 minutes of content. Now the movie is set to be released on 15th August clashing with some big productions like Stree 2 and Thangalaan. The movie, as the trailer shows has a decent plot with powerful performances by Abhisek and John. Sharvari has a pivotal role in the movie, most probably the role of the protagonist and John is a confidante. Tamannah was also seen in the trailer but as of now we cannot say how important is her role in her movie.
The question arises that is it a good decision to release the movie on 15th taking a head on battle with Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein and Thangalaan for the box office charts? The movie certainly has potential, but Stree 2 has an advantage being the sequel to an already hit movie. And though John Abraham is a big star who can definitely pull off an audience, we can’t unsee the fact that his last 5 movies never even reached 10 crores in their opening day collection. Also, clashing with big names like Chiyan Vikram in Thangalaan and Akshay Kumar in Khel Khel Mein further worsens the situation.
All in all, the idea of releasing the movie on 15th August just seems like a desperate move by the production team. They decided to launch the movie as soon as the problem with the censor board was sorted. The movie may have a decent plot and good theme, but it definitely won’t stand a chance against the big names that are to be released on the day.
