The Independence Day market will definitely be a strong competition across India. As pre-booking has started for all the films, the stat nerds are getting ready to analyze the numbers. Stree 2 is the biggest project of the day, but an interesting one is Double iSmart.
Regarding the cast, it’s evident that Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt will deliver an action-packed experience for fans. However, the early hype is always reflected in the numbers, and the initial ticket sales might concern the makers.
So far, the film has sold around 64,000 tickets, which is a solid number, considering that most films, regardless of whether they are from the north or south, are struggling. But what’s concerning is the low occupancy rate, which is around 24.57%, with 642 shows scheduled.
One major reason behind this low occupancy is the phenomenon called Stree 2, which we’ve already discussed in multiple articles. The 642 shows include many from northern India, a tough market to crack in the first few days.
Moreover, the film hasn’t been well-promoted in the Hindi belt, which might hurt its performance there. While Sanjay Dutt might attract an audience in the Hindi belt, the only hope for improvement is if Stree 2 slows down after a week, allowing it to expand in the northern region.
In the Telugu audience, the release of Mr. Bachchan, which isn’t the first choice for many, might benefit Double iSmart. The Ravi Teja remake is being overlooked for now, which could also work in its favor.
Even though Vedaa will have a Telugu dub audio, fans are unlikely to prefer the dub over Double iSmart. The 24% occupancy is concerning, but Indians tend to make last-minute bookings or book tickets offline just before the show. So, it shouldn’t raise too many eyebrows right now.
