Netflix is the new Disney or the new Pixar, at least that’s what the fans want to announce right away. But if we be realistic for a moment, Netflix is definitely doing some phenomenal work with their animation but eventually, there is a question: how big potential does Netflix hold?
In terms of sheer scale, very few platforms have the grandeur and accessibility as Netflix. They have the very best directors and writers.
Also, last year, Netflix managed to redeem themselves in terms of content production, becoming the global top, as it was supposed to be.
Now, it’s not like Netflix wasn’t really good in terms of their animated content; they were definitely one of the very best when it comes to animation. Netflix has been producing animations like nothing else, making it a great contender for the future of the industry.
Now, they aren’t the most saintly, but still, whatever they produce, that sort of makes them the alchemists.
Talking about iconic animations, you talk about Bojack Horseman. With dark comedy and humor and surges of sentiment, the series became an epitome of greatness. But success is like a drug as Bojack made them work on some more from this genre.
Netflix then did a lot of experiments, and one of their finest ones was Love, Death & Robots. The series is divided into three seasons, and here, they experimented with various types of animations and storylines, and people loved the versatility.
Tim Miller and Netflix managed to pull off some wonders, and one such episode you might stream is Season three’s Jibaro, which is a pinnacle of animation.
Besides that, Arcane, Blood of Zeus, and Arcane managed to pull off some wonders. But talking about films now, Nimona, Wendell & Wild, and I Lost My Body managed to get Netflix up to that podium, and the last one was even the first time Netflix was nominated for an Oscar in animation.
But keeping the past success aside, there are two films that manage to draw some major attention: Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio and Leo.
Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, among these two, manages to give a brilliant twist to the ever so popular folk story. From giving a very dark ending to a gloomy tone, Pinocchio draws attention and made people notice the platform.
And then came Leo, a very recent Netflix original which featured Adam Sandler and gained some massive popularity. From sheer wit to a wave of emotions, Leo grabbed the attention of the masses last year.
But right now, Netflix is celebrating another animation movie, Orion and the Dark, manages to be the new fan favorite. Again, moving on from Disney, Netflix manages to tell the twisted tale, making them opt for a good number of audiences.
From the statistics to the reviews, Orion and the Dark screams success, making Netflix a very strong animation contender for the path ahead. But again, Pixar and Disney all fell from the very top; will Netflix make an exception or an example of it? Only time will tell.
