This Japanese franchise released and soon received international recognition with remakes that go by the name ‘The Grudge.’ Its latest additon, ‘JU-ON: Origins‘ is Netflix’s first Japanese horror original. The story promises to discover the origins and roots of all spooky incidents. Origins is like a prequel to all other movies. Netflix description: A paranormal researcher searches obsessively for a cursed home where something terrible happened to a mother and her child long ago.
The house is cursed because a woman and her son were killed by her jealous husband. Anybody who comes in contact with this house falls prey to the curse and is destined to die. The show released on 3rd July and received mixed reviews!
Some say that Origins was supposed to answer many questions about the curse and provide an explanation to the murders occurring in the house but, it failed to do so. It leaves the audience confused. Reviewers feel the story is left open ended and the acting could have been better. In addition to this, audience feel that scenes of violence and sexual assault make the visual a little disturbing.
On the other hand, a set of viewers enjoyed the show. They the liked the idea of only six episodes of thirty minutes each, making it binge-watch worthy. The audience say that it is partially engaging with the right number of horror scenes and seems interesting right from the first fifteen minutes. They were happy as JU-ON:Origins met their expectations and was worth the wait. It is currently streaming on Netflix. Have you watched it yet? What’s your opinion?
