Taking the friendly comedy theme, Netflix brings Wild Wild Punjab. The trailer itself was extremely mediocre, and the film goes downhill from there. The film looks like a low-budget production, which is very surprising from Netflix.
The film is getting an underwhelming response from fans, as the writing and level of comedy let them down.
Surprisingly, some fans are comparing it with Madgaon Express. There are similarities, as both involve a group of friends stuck in a similar situation, with everything against them.
What makes Madgaon Express a better watch is the quality of the writing, which is miles ahead of what we saw in Wild Wild Punjab. The Netflix film, though targeted at a youthful audience, fails to connect with them. On the other hand, Madgaon Express starts on a note that everyone can connect with and goes up from there.
Is it a fair comparison?
Absolutely not, as the films differ in terms of quality. Madgaon Express is far superior in several categories compared to what Netflix created with Wild Wild Punjab. Plus, Wild Wild Punjab is already being looked down upon, and some users are even unaware of its existence. Hopefully, Netflix learns the formula of friend comedies and gifts the fans something worth watching.
