Netflix started in India in 2018. It came up with a bang with films like Lust Stories and series as popular as Sacred Games. One face was repetitive in most Indian titles that Netflix brought. It was that of Radhika Apte who is a phenomenally talented actress.
But looks like Netflix is repeating the history with Sanya Malhotra this time. The 30-year-old actress was first seen in Aamir Khan’s mega-popular Dangal in 2016. Since then she has been constantly active in films and has worked in some appreciable films like Vishal Bhardwaj’s Pataakha and dark comedy Ludo.
Today, Netflix announced another film with her called Kathal where she would be playing the character of a police officer. But the announcement video certainly gives us a comedic feel rather than some serious cop-drama. Regardless, before that, Sanya Malhotra starred in Pagglait and Ludo which were released directly on Netflix.
However, this one seems like original Netflix content rather than direct to OTT content. Some users pointed out that Sanya is getting repetitive on Netflix. We are not in a position to say if this one’s a good or bad thing but it is definitely a noticeable thing that the subscribers of Netflix must be aware of.
What do you have to say about this trend?
